Statement from Omer Deen, MD for Office of Secretary

Specify Alternate Text

I am honored to be considered for the position of Secretary of LACMA. If elected to this position, I hope to collaborate with LACMA leadership to empower Los Angeles County physicians to continue to practice unencumbered, with the health and best interest of our patients guiding us.

I completed my residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Nevada, Reno. I then went on to complete fellowship training in GI Clinical Nutrition at Cleveland Clinic and remained on staff there before moving to Los Angeles.

I have been in solo private practice in Torrance, California since 2013 and joined LACMA shortly after moving to the area. I have had the privilege of serving on the executive board of LACMA and as president of District 9.

In addition to practicing medicine, I co-founded Nursing Without Walls, a Silicon Valley healthcare tech startup which provides high quality, cost-effective home-based health care to patients at most risk of hospital admission/readmission. Although we started in California, the company has now expanded to 3 states and continues to grow. I believe this unique experience in healthcare business would be an added benefit to LACMA leadership.

Just as the members of our organization have diverse practice settings, interests and backgrounds, I believe my diverse work experience in healthcare business, my work in private hospitals, large academic set- tings as well as my experience running a solo private practice would be an asset I could bring to this position. I humbly accept the nomination and, if elected, would be honored to serve as Secretary of LACMA.
