Local CEO Fights for Increasing Payments for Physicians

The community is short 1,400 doctors, according to Dr. Elaine Batchlor, the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital's chief executive. She said her facility in South Los Angeles is drowning under a surge of sicker patients in surrounding communities. Batchlor has been lobbying the Newsom administration and state lawmakers to fix basic healthcare for the state’s poorest residents. She believes that increasing payments for doctors and hospitals that treat Medi-Cal patients could lead to improvements in both quality and access.

General Election in Near!

Mail-in ballots for November 8, 2022, California General Election will soon arrive in the mail. We hope that you will mail in your ballot or show up to the polls to help ensure the voices of physicians are heard loud and clear. View the California Medical Association's (CMA) November 2022 General Election Physician Voter Guide, which includes CMA’s positions on statewide ballot measures and endorsements for two CMA-supported physicians running for their first terms in office. Kermit Jones, M.D., is a candidate for the new Congressional District 3, a district based in the Sierra foothills and Placer County, and Jasmeet Bains, M.D., is a candidate for the new Assembly District 35, a district based in Kern County and largely the city of Bakersfield.

LACMA Presentation at Allied Pacific IPA Annual Retreat and Meeting

Over 150 physicians attended, and it was our opportunity to present the value of membership, the synergy between our respective organizations, the fight for Medi-Cal payment parity, AB 35, the minimum wage ordinances, and much more. Gentem New Practitioner Survey Reminder

Attn: New Practitioners!

We know establishing a private medical practice can be daunting. At LACMA, we want to make sure we’re providing the right resources to help you and your practice succeed.

As we look to bolster our physician resources, we’re working with one of our partners, Gentem Health, to learn more about our members’ billing and revenue cycle management (RCM) needs.

Please take a minute to answer a brief survey about your financial/billing/RCM needs. These responses will guide the direction of future member resources!
