Wellness Can't Wait, Neither Can You

Feb. 23-25 | LACMA Presents the Healthcare Burnout Symposium in Southern CA

With six weeks to go before LACMA presents the first Southern California Healthcare Burnout Symposium at the UCLA Luskin Conference Center on February 23-25, I must ask our members: Why haven’t you registered?

Don’t miss this opportunity to meet with physicians and healthcare professionals from around the country. The speaker lineup includes HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra and new California Surgeon General Dr. Diana Ramos. There will be over 40 breakout session speakers covering topics essential to physician wellness. Our members have shared that burnout, along with reimbursement, staffing, and access to care are top issues and all will be covered over the two days. We have 140+ registrations but only 42 from the Los Angeles area. CMEs are offered and as a LACMA member, we’ve negotiated $400 off your registration. In addition, any group of 3 or more that register together get an additional 15% off the registration costs, so the savings are significant. As part of the registration, you will also be able to have on-demand access to all sessions for up to six months – and earn CMEs for any sessions viewed online as well. We hope we can hit 100 attendees from Los Angeles and the majority of those are our members.

Year Round Resolutions

Did you know that any LACMA and CMA member can author a resolution? The California Medical Association is the largest, most influential medical organization in California and an aggressive advocate for physicians and patients. CMA relies on the involvement of its members to communicate the physician vision of health care to the public and to the lawmakers and regulators who determine how medicine is practiced. CMA policy is set by members elected to represent their colleagues in the House of Delegates or on the Board of Trustees. Submitting resolutions for action by these bodies is the most direct way for members to influence CMA’s advocacy agenda.

Resolutions can address virtually any medical practice or health-related topic, or any aspect of the policies and activities of organized medicine. This quarter’s deadline is January 13, 2023.

Physician Marriage and Relationships Study

Researchers at the University of California at Irvine are studying physician marriages and relationships. In particular, they are looking at the impact of physician specialty, stage of training, practice setting, etc., on marriage happiness and success.

In order to collect data and analyze interesting findings, they are depending on physicians across the nation to take the 5-minute survey below.

If any questions about the survey arise, please feel free to contact Rajeev Dutta at the email address below. Thank you so much for your time and help: we are optimistic that the study can prove insightful for the profession and are earnestly grateful for your contribution to that goal.
