Calling all Members

The Los Angeles County Medical Association is holding its 147th Annual Election this coming June. Active members of LACMA and CMA have the privilege of nominating and voting for their preferred candidates for any vacant position. This is an exciting time of year as members who are interested in holding a leadership position or who would like to become more involved in shaping healthcare policy at the local and state level should review current vacancies and submit nominations for themselves or other members to Lisa Le at lisa@lacmanet.org.

Members are also invited to attend the Annual Spring General Meeting. This meeting is the last chance for  members to make nominations for the 2018 Election. Can't attend? Members may be nominated for any elective office by petition signed by at least five (5) members eligible to vote and sent to the LACMA offices prior to the start of the General Meeting.
WHEN: Thursday April 5, 2018 Dinner: 6:00pm, Meeting: 6:30pm-7:00pm

LOCATION: LACMA Headquarters 1055 West 7th Street, Suite 2290 Los Angeles, CA 90017 RSVP: 213-226-0304
At the end of May, members can expect to receive a voting ballot via email. Please be sure to keep an eye out for your ballot and submit your vote!

Doc Matters
Last week, we held our 2nd Doc Matters call with Dave Bader from JNTTek, who addressed IT infrastructure and the importance of maintaining a strong online presence. Here is a recap of some of the questions and answers that were reviewed during the program.
  • What is the responsibility to the practice for HIPAA compliance in terms of IT?
The patients personal information and records must be stored on a secure platform on separate drive space, only to be accessed by authorized staff.
  • How can I safely leverage the cloud to improve my practice use?
In most cases all doctors' practices are leveraging some application currently in the cloud. It could be through an insurance portal, or ERP solution, or support applications the administrative staff uses every day. It is important to make sure your firewall is current and you are running security patches and updates to protect your network.
  • How can I use my website to attract new patients and promote my practice?
The website can be the key tool to attract new patients. Using key words, geo-location strategy, and reputation management, there are many ways you can tailor your massage. It is important to think of the website as a constant online digital sign that needs content and traffic to drive the performance.

Does your practice need IT or digital marketing assistance? You can contact Dave directly at dave@jnttek.com or at 818-303-9177.
