Tuesday Rx: Burnout Symposium, Honoring Dr. Mammone, Patient Reviews, and Practice Valuation Webinar

Three Days to Go for First Burnout Symposium!

We’ve been promoting the Burnout Symposium since last November, and the great news is we have close to 300 attendees.  The bad news is most of the attendees are not LACMA members.  Do our members not think burnout is a real issue?  Is taking time off from practice, patients, and profession simply a deal breaker? Was 50% off registration not enough?  Is the agenda, 40 speakers, not compelling?  A 1 ½ day conference with CMEs, on-demand content and multiple solutions to real problems physicians face should result in more than 46 LACMA registering -- but maybe I’m missing something.  For those attending, we look forward to welcoming you, seeing you and delivering value to you.  For those who cannot attend or didn’t find the subject and event worthwhile, you can access the CME-accredited content online at www.stophealthcareburnout.com

Honoring Dr. Michael Mammone

LACMA will honor Dr. Michael J. Mammone at the Burnout Symposium later this week. Dr. Mammone was riding his bicycle in Dana Point on Feb. 1 when he was struck from behind by a white Lexus whose driver then, apparently without provocation, stabbed him to death.  Dr. Mammone began his career at San Antonio Regional Medical Center in Upland, where he trained paramedics and emergency medical technicians on top of his duties in the emergency room.  He was on staff at Providence Mission Hospital Laguna Beach.

Medical Practice Makeover: Physician Support

LACMA's Medical Practice Makeover Initiative is more than a slogan. It’s a promise to small, independent medical practices that meet certain criteria, that help is on the way. In 2022, a total of 20 practices received $5,000 grants along with robust resources, PPE supplies and a practice assessment. The success of the program in its first year demonstrated the need to extend the Medical Practice Initiative into 2023.

For 2023, a total of $50,000 will be awarded to practices, with 3 winners announced each quarter - 2 new awardees and 1 returning awardee. New awardees will receive $5,000 and past winners who re-apply and win will receive $2,500. The deadline for Quarter 1 is March 3, 2023.
